Heaven Poured Out

The crown of the kingdom is its acceptance,

The colors of light are one but are many.

By its unity, we are able to see.

United we,

The light will be.

The meaning behind the painting:

This painting stems from one of the most profound insights I have had in this life and that being of the way of light and color. I read a book about precious stones and gems and learned that one of the defining factors of the purity and rarity of a gem was its ability to reject a perfect defining color by its capacity to absorb the other colors of the light spectrum. A ruby for example has a mineral composition that will absorb the orange, yellow, green, blue and purple thereby only rejecting the red of the light spectrum so that our eyes perceive the color red. A highly prized ruby will completely absorb all the other colors in order to reject a perfect deep red color to the eye. The less pure a gemstone the less it will absorb the other colors and the eye will perceive a mixture of colors less deep and desirable.

We are all children of God and as the children of God, we are to be the light of the world. Light is comprised of all of the 6 visible colors together with the 7th invisible color, indigo. We are all different colors, cut from different clothes with different backgrounds, values and perspectives. Each color itself is only truly realized when the other colors are completely absorbed. If I am to be the best version of myself as a ruby, I must be able to completely accept the people who are different from me, disagree with me and offend me. My strength, character, kindness, love and humility are only grown and defined as I accept the other colors. I need the oranges, yellows, greens, blues and purples to draw out my own color because they are different than me. They are needed to reveal the life of God to me and in me who is Himself all of the colors of light. To the degree that I accept the other colors will I become the fullest, deepest and most desirable version of myself.

I believe that if we all truly lived by this rule of acceptance of others this world could literally be heaven on earth and I believe that we would experience a whole other level of fullness in physical, mental and spiritual health.
