Nightmare before Christmas renditions.
It all started with one commission project for a coworker, this iconic movie scene has started to become a regular for me. It capitalizes on my texture and glow in the dark techniques perfectly. I always enjoyed the movie growing up but truth be told I wasnβt really been a big fan of the movie or the characters until I started painting them. I have done three renditions now, this last project being one of the most enjoyable processes I have done to date. I hope you enjoy the artwork.

The third and most recent rendition was commissioned by an old co-worker and good friend for his twin children. Having already created two renditions similar, I wanted to take step up my game and take this one to the next level. I used heavy texture to mimic the claymation-style animation of the movie and challenged myself to draw and paint the characters as close to textbook as I could. I created a center gravestone to title the painting and used the font from the movie. As a native abstract artist, I took a big step in developing my discipline of detail on this project and grew my confidence to draw tremendously. I wanted the glow-in-the-dark version to be as detailed as the daylight version so I spent the time to detail the jack-o-lanterns, highlight the landscape and fencing, and even added ghosts lurking behind the primary gravestone.

The second rendition in my series I created just for the fun of it while I had some time off my day job. Halloween was just around the corner and I had many people interested in buying the last one that was commissioned. So I created another one that ended up decorating my house for another year before I sold to the business owner of Power Generation in CA.

My first Nightmare Before Christmas rendition was commissioned by a co-worker while working for Caterpillar in Riverside, CA. This was my first attempt at recreating any formal characters or scenes in my art journey which deeply challenged my artistβs eye and my ability to draw. A simple design and easier with character silhouettes, it was still perfect for the utilization of texture and my glow-in-the-dark technique.
