Aurora
12 x 36”
Texture, acrylics and phosphorescent on canvas covered with a high gloss resin.
Another piece I painted specifically for the first official art show/exhibit I was a part of while living in Redlands, CA.
One of the first paintings I used phosphorescent powders to create the glow in the dark process rather than glow in the dark paints. I had gotten the idea from following a resin mold artist, Larry J Ortega, who creates amazing sculptures using resin molds and he would add layers of phosphorescent powders and even LED light strips in some of his work so it would illuminate in the dark. I was inspired and I figured I could apply the same principles in my paintings and this project was one such experiment with the powders and resin.
